community

We exist.

.

In biological terms, a community is a group of interacting organisms sharing an environment. In human communities, intent, belief, resources, preferences, needs, risks, and a number of other conditions may be present and common, affecting the identity of the participants and their degree of cohesiveness. In sociology, the concept of community has caused infinite debate, and sociologists are yet to reach agreement on a definition of the term. There were ninety-four discrete definitions of the term by the mid-1950s. Traditionally a "community" has been defined as a group of interacting people living in a common location. The word is often used to refer to a group that is organized around common values and social cohesion within a shared geographical location, generally in social units larger than a household. The word can also refer to the national community or global community. The word community is derived from the Old French communité which is derived from the Latin communitas, a broad term for fellowship or organized society.[1]

Since the advent of the Internet, the concept of community no longer has geographical limitations, as people can now virtually gather in an online community and share common interests regardless of physical location. Invitation: If you direct or are a part of a collective / non-profit / organization, let us know about you. The purpose is to thread the waters.

SEASICK MAMA --------- FEBRUARY 14TH

Charles Bukowski: "It's possible to love a human being if you don't know them too well."

In this contemporary society, love & sex become the foreground of many creative endeavors. As a result, people are getting married in pop-up shops, having the most epic one night stands in history, and the delivery boys get the most ass in town. Charles Bukowski once said, "It's possible to love a human being if you don't know them too well". It seems like sex, love, & romance are just one big commodity. This is why heart's are being broken lightly, fourteen is the new acceptable age to loose your virginity, and the best part, the phrase "FUCK YOU" has never been so angelic to the ears.

With Valentine's Day a mere couple of weeks away, Seasick Mama wanted to celebrate February 14th with a modern card that expresses some comic vulgarity, a loose cannon, but the best part is the intention behind the card is completely yours...
The Seasick Mama FUCK YOU | FUCK ME V-DAY CARDS showcase a series of sensual photographs by Casey RAnderson, a New York City based director. Inside, the card has a simple message, one that is sure to be on everyone's mind in one way or another. One set includes four (5.5 x 8.5 inch cards) with red envelopes. Hand-printed in the U.S.A.

Seasick Mama, a Brooklyn-based creative company, works directly with artists to introduce innovative exhibit and creative retail projects to boost the overall experience of any boutique, gallery, store or event. Seasick Mama also focuses on production of various projects including apparel, music videos and other collaborative projects. This Valentines Day, Seasick Mama worked with Casey RAnderson to produce a greeting card that pushes the "envelope", no pun intended.

We will be celebrating Valentines Day at INVENT.ORY on February 12th. (237 Lafayette Street.) More details are available at http://www.seasickmama.com.

For more information, visit the PRESS section of www.seasickmama.com. There you will find an array of information from Karmaloop, Interview Magazine, and L Magazine.
